William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire, and was baptised on 26 April 1564. His father was a glove maker and wool merchant and his mother, Mary Arden, was the daughter of a well-to-do local land owner. Shakespeare was probably educated in StratfordÂ’s grammar school. In 1582 he married Anne Hathaway, and the couple had a daughter the following year and twins in 1585.ShakespeareÂ’s theatrical life seems to have commenced around 1590. We do know that he was part of the Lord ChamberlainÂ’s Company, which was renamed the KingÂ’s Company in 1603 when James I succeeded to the throne. The Company acquired interests in two theatres in the Southwark area of London, near the banks of the Thames - the Globe and the Blackfriars.ShakespeareÂ’s poetry was published before his plays, with two poems appearing in 1593 and 1594, dedicated to his patron Henry Wriothesley, Earl of Southampton. Most of ShakespeareÂ’s sonnets were probably written at this time as well.Records of ShakespeareÂ’s plays begin to appear in 1594, and he produced roughly two a year until around 1611. His earliest plays include Henry VI and Titus Andronicus. A Midsummer NightÂ’s Dream, The Merchant of Venice and Richard II all date from the mid to late 1590s. Some of his most famous tragedies were written in the early 1600s; these include Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, Macbeth and Antony & Cleopatra. Die Cambridge-Ausgaben waren schon immer toll aufgearbeitet. Diese aktuelle Fassung ist vollgestopft mit Hintergrundinfos, methodischen Anregungen und reichhaltigen Fotos aus Dutzenden von Inszenierungen. Damit bietet es nicht nur für den Unterrichtenden, sondern auch für die Schüler viele Hilfen und Erleichterungen, in die aus heutiger Sicht sperrige Sprache des Stücks einzudringen und den Inhalt zu genießen. Vielleicht ginge es noch toller, aber ich wüsste nicht, wie. Daumen hoch!

A well known classic written by William Shakespeare.I'm a German student and bought it for school. Just like any other book of Shakespeare it was kind of hard to read at first but since there are so many forums on the internet regarding this drama, it was relatively easy to understand what the story was about and what was happening.I like this book better than other ones because it actually explains the old words used by Shakespeare on the bottom of each site, which can be very helpful so you don't have to search it up on the internet all the time.- Shipping was fast and the book is well built

I suffered with Shakespeare at school (many years ago). So when I decided to give it a go again I chose this with the footnotes to help. I found that I didn’t need most of them, in which case, you don’t need to read them! But occasionally to did need them and then they were really helpful.

Schöner Druck, schöne Bilder, ausreichend erklärende Zusatztexte. Die Annotationen neben dem Text könnten umfangreicher sein, die Arbeitsaufträge (für Schüler der Oberstufe) fand ich teils mit zu viel Vorgabe oder am Kern der Sache vorbei. Viele Aufgaben gehen in Richtung Aktion und Theaterspielen, wozu die normale Unterrichtszeit in der Schule nicht reicht.Ich hatte "Much Ado ... " in der Oxford-Ausgabe und fand dort die Arbeitsaufträge passender für den Schulunterricht.

Das Buch ist zwar sehr klein und hat relativ dünne Seite, aber es handelt sich nunmal um ein Taschenbuch.Der Inhalt ist genau so, wie man es erwartet. Die deutschen Worterklärungen sind sehr hilfreich beim Entschlüsseln der damaligen Sprache.Auch für den Englisch Leistungskurs (Nds) absolut brauchbar und angemessen.Man kann nichts falsch machen, außer man bevorzugt eher große und stabile Bücher.

Ich habe dieses Buch für den Englisch LK gebraucht und leider absolut vergessen es zu bestellen...Amazon war da eine Notfalllösung- das Buch war sehr sehr günstig ( weil gebraucht ) und die Lieferung sollte schnell gehen.Darauf hin habe ich es bestellt und siehe da, 2 Tage später war das Buch da. Und besser erhalten als ich gedacht habe.Wie angegeben hatte es einige Gebrauchsspuren, auch einige Markierungen, was aber weiterhin nicht schlimm ist, denn man kann damit immer noch sehr gut arbeiten und es war schnell da !Ich kann es nur empfehlen !!

Das Buch ist geteilt: auf der einen Seite das Original und auf der anderen die Fassung wie sie heute lauten würde. Das ist gut gemacht und trägt wesentlich zum Verstehen des Originaltextes bei, den man sonst kaum verstehen könnte. Umstände und Zusammenhänge sind jeweils erläutert. Durch die Aufteilung des Buches ist es einfacher, sich die Texte Shakespeare's und deren Sinn zu erschließen. Es macht Spass darin zu lesen.

Die klassischte Liebesgeschichte überhaupt. Zum Lesen sehr empfehlenswert, aber nicht, wenn man einfach nur mal etwas für zwischendurch will. Die Sprache ist natürlich etwas schwerer, wer aber keine Probleme mit dem heutigen Englisch hat und da sehr gut ist, kann die meisten Wörter sich schon selbst erschließen, aber die meisten Wörter sind hinten auch angegeben. Das Buch ist natürlich nichts für Leute, die eine wilde Abneigung gegenüber Romantik oder den Drang nach einem Happy End haben.
